My Little Miss gets to do FUN STUFF! And she got to do it FOR FREE. I signed her up for a cupcake decorating event at our library. I didn't tell her what she was going to be doing, just said we were all going to the library and she'd be doing something fun, special and valentine's related.
A local bakery supplied cupcakes, and all the decorations, for the kids to participate in the decorating event. She even got to see a friend of her UPK class, whom she hadn't seen for over a year. I had no idea the friend would be there, but so happy when we saw her.
The boy hung out with Daddy doing games on the computer, I searched the adult side of the library for some inspiring books and Little Miss got to decorate her cupcakes, "catch up" with her buddy, and have a fantastic morning.
I didn't have to spend a dime, just gas to get to the library! Sure, that's not cheap either, but totally worth every dime for the fuel we used, because LOOK AT THAT PROUD SMILE.
It's amazing what simple things can excite a child. LOVE IT. Love her to the ends of the Earth, to stars and back and to infinity forever.
She is beautiful! And yes, it really is amazing what simple things can excite a child - that is part of what I am hoping we can all reclaim for ourselves, as adults, through this series.
ReplyDeleteThe library has come a really long way, and surprisingly, there are still tons of people that don't know just how great of a resource it can be. Whether they live in a city or small town, it is worth a trip to speak to a librarian about what activities & classes they have scheduled, what ongoing programs & services they offer. And another thing you touched on - it is a great way to meet new people in your own community, or just do something fun with people you already know.

Thanks. I know, libraries are awesome. Ours even had Zumba for free, but it didn't fit into our schedule. Hoping they do it again for the summer!
