Learning to Write
I had purchased writing pads last summer, figuring I'd have time to start to teach my daughter to write. YEAH RIGHT. She can type on a laptop, which is great, but she needs to learn to write. My husband kept telling me we needed to find sheets of paper that had letters on them, so she could trace them and learn. This weekend a light went off and I found the writing pads. So he looked inside and saw that I had actually thought about this a long time ago, because inside the booklets were sheets and sheets of lined paper that had the letters of the alphabet and numbers. A line of solid letters, all the same uppercase letters across the top, then the next line had the outline you could trace, then a line that had the letter to start it and the child could write it herself. Below that, lowercase of the same letter. A page for each letter in the alphabet, then the numbers.
So my husband photocopied a bunch of the pages for her, so we could use them over and over to teach her. Today he came home from work and gave her the page with the A's on it, showed her what to do and she ran down to my "office". I heard her say quietly and with excitement, "this is going to be great" and then very loudly, "MOMMY, LOOK. I drew this." She held up her piece of paper with a lot of pride, I have to say! So I showed how impressed I was, then I asked her if she'd like to take a picture. She did her little "of course I do" smile and we went upstairs to the camera. So without further ado, I bring you Little Miss and her first ever attempt at writing the letter A!
Awh! Too precious! I like that you made copies too. With the 8x10 sized workbooks, I put all the pages into paper condoms (sheet protectors) and let them use dry-erase markers. :)
ReplyDeletePaper condoms. I love it.
