Because Daddy Came with Us

It was free museum day on Saturday, September 25, 2010. My husband printed out tickets for us to go to the Carriage Museum in Stony Brook. And we actually went. Go figure!
We had a lovely day, though I don't think anyone told Mother Nature that Autumn had started earlier in the week.....it was SWELTERING on Saturday. The museum consists of beautiful displays of carriages in one building, then there is an open area with a one room school house, blacksmith, an art museum (with very little art, but it had a fun kitchen display/exhibit). It's rather beautiful and Little Miss seemed to enjoy it. Especially when she got to pose for a few shots. However, most came out blurry as you can't use your flash in the Carriage Museum. It supposedly can damage the carriages. I didn't want to be responsible for that!
Over at the Art Museum they are really cute Kitchen Exhibit. On display were old stoves, fridges, microwave (my husband is older than the first microwave-HAHA), George Foreman Grill, Easy Bake Oven and a bunch of other really cute displays. I got a shot of Little Miss in front of the old fashioned kitchen with her doll Tori that came everywhere with us!

One of the highlights of the kitchen was a little "hands-on" display that she could mash up some corn. And of course, that's when The Boy started having a fit in his stroller, because he wanted to try it too. Although, giving him a heavy stone was not our best parenting moment, he didn't throw it, so we were all good.

Of course, all of this was very tiring for my daughter. I mean, on a normal Saturday we usually do NOTHING and try to recuperate from our week of school, work and running around! So she had to take a little breather and lie down at the museum.......might have been the heat. It was very warm.

The day ended at the Lake Ronkonkoma Fall Festival......we didn't stay long. Overdue for The Boy's nap, lunch and the heat just wiped us out. So one time in the bounce house for The Boy and a stroll around the festival and we left.

All-in-all, a lovely day. So during baths that night, I asked Little Miss what her favorite part was. I thought for sure she'd say the mashing of the corn kernels. But no, she surprised me once again. She looked at me, with soapy hair and her toys in her hand and said so sweetly "Daddy came with us." And then went right back to splashing and screeching! A brief moment of utter sweetness.
