Picky Eaters: Homemade Waffles

My husband got a Waffle Iron thingy. It was on sale, we had some coupons from Kohl's and so he got one for super cheap. Or else, we wouldn't have it. Anyway, he got adventurous and decided instead of using the Bisquick mix we have in the house - he would make it from SCRATCH.
I'm still shocked we had all the ingredients he needed to make the batter, honestly. I mean, we're not the baking type of family.
Struffoli made in the traditional way from Sor...Image via WikipediaAlthough he did make Honey Balls (Struffoli to those Italians out there reading my blog) for Xmas Eve and Xmas. Little Miss actually helped make the little balls of dough, The Boy helped put ingredients into the Stand Mixer (which was a Xmas gift from last year that I received-Kitchen Aid Stand Mixer). Which the kids loved eating and my son still asks for "honey." I guess they'll have to make those again before the holidays next year....perhaps for Easter? We'll see!

Back to the Waffles. My husband whipped up some Waffles and my son ate them so fast, I couldn't even get a picture. He wouldn't cooperate. So instead, we have my daughter. She liked them, too. AMAZING!!!! She doesn't like the frozen ones from Eggo, but homemade ones she'll eat. LOVE IT. That's my girl, learning to get away from the processed foods!!!!

Add another food to my Picky Eaters list of "YES, I like that, Mommy". By the end of this year, we may not be able to call them Picky Eaters anymore. WAHOOOOO. And with any luck, they'll be off of all processed foods.......I have small dreams, I know.

  3. Eschelle-the Struffoli MUST have the sprinkles like that. It's not honey balls without the sprinkles. BUT I did mention we should put them on the waffles for special occasions! We'll do it for our birthdays. LOL.
Sofia-Every chance we get, we attempt to remove the processed crap if we can. But the kids will always love certain things and I can't take it all away, right???!!!
    Debra-Thank you!!! It's difficult!
