Dick Clark and the New Year

What the hell was that idiotic spectacle last night on TV? Did anyone else want to throw things at the television every time someone spoke about Dick Clark? The insincerity was just too much for me!

First of all, Ryan Seacrest.....I'm not as enamored by him as many out there are. I don't find him sincere. I find him nauseating. He's better on radio, it's where he should stay. I think what annoys me most is the fact that he's the one putting the Kardashians on TV......we could do without them as well. We all have disfunctional families, we don't need to see the Kardashians be disfunctional.

Second, where was the real "respect" for Dick Clark. Hardly anything was done when the ball dropped to really honor him. They should have had clips of him counting down, as the ball dropped. They could have put his little holograph up there on the stage to count it down, for F*CK's sake. What they did was half-assed, and I'm not super sure they knew what the hell they were doing, because none of them seemed to be aware that the counting should have started when the ball started to drop. It's not rocket science people, get on the "ball" will you.

FINALLY, what was that ridiculous back and forth with the Mayor. Seriously? Could you guys be any more insincere with your banter about Dick Clark. I think the man deserved a bit better, he is kind of a legend to many of us who love music.

I have to be honest. I'm a big fan of Dick Clark. To me, he is why music is such a huge part of the American Culture, and my life. He brought music into our living rooms, showed all of us how fun it was to just enjoy it, dance to it, and be HAPPY. Yes, even me. I'm not too young to have experienced this. Trust me.

I'd rather watch re-runs of American Bandstand than anything related to American Idol ANY DAY. Here's a little something I loved on YouTube. Hope you enjoy it!
