It took me a few years to stop worrying, and the reason is more "deep" than just having a girl first, who did everything rather quickly, and rather early (speaking full sentences before she could walk - ODD.)
While I was pregnant, like all women out there, I had blood work done. I didn't think anything of it, because it's such a routine thing. However, late one night, I was already laying in bed, drifting off to sleep while watching TV when the phone rang. Not abnormal, as my husband has lots of people in his life who forget how young his kids are, and that his wife worked full-time and was pregnant......
However, this time, he told me to pick up the phone as he came in carrying the cordless phone. The OB/GYN had something to tell us together. My OB/GYN is amazing. I love him. Him calling scared me, because it had to be serious enough to call, yet not serious enough to drag us into the office. I was frozen in fear.
The news? I had Toxoplasmosis. If you aren't familiar with this, it is the main reason you aren't suppose to be around cat litter while pregnant. It's a parasite. However, you can also get it from eating undercooked meat that has been contaminated. We didn't have a cat, mainly because I hate cats (sorry.) However, there were stupid stray cats all over the condo complex we lived in, and where I had to walk my dog. Heaven forbid the husband would do that for me......unless, like at this point, it was detrimental to the baby's health.
They had no clue when I had contracted it, so I had to be monitored the entire time I was pregnant. Ultrasounds every month, and a bunch of other stuff. Plus, all the things that might end up happening to my son after he arrived.....learning issues, vision issues, or worst case, he could die.
After he was born, he was put through a lot of testing. They never found anything wrong. He was fine, and we had nothing to worry about. However, it was always in the back of my mind when milestones would come that Little Miss hit, and The Boy still hadn't hit.....hence the "he's broken" pleas to his doctor at all of his well-visits.
Once I embraced he is just a boy, and it didn't have anything to do with the infection.......I relaxed a little, and realized my children are total opposites with most things. It's like NIGHT & DAY.
And then, I laughed, because Little Miss was born at 5:47PM and my son, two years and two days later, was born at 5:44AM. My children are LITERALLY, Night & Day.
So now, I'm going to sharing the stories that I find most humorous that highlight their polar opposite personalities.....ones that happened through their early years, and ones that happen present day.
Should be comical, to say the least! Hope you enjoy them!
