Simple Pleasures - Bubbles

I don't know how other kids are, but my kids love blowing bubbles. Well, my daughter loves to blow bubbles and my son loves to "think" he is blowing bubbles. We cleaned out an empty bubble container, cleaned off the stick inside it and he thinks he is blowing bubbles.
Every day my daughter "nags" me to blow bubbles. It doesn't matter what kind of day it is outside, she just wants to blow bubbles all the time.
Each nice day we take a walk around our neighborhood. Okay, well I walk, they sit in my double stroller that I am so thankful we purchased about a year ago. One of the greatest inventions is the stroller that has the kids sit behind each other, instead of side by side. Sure the kid in the back does not have a great view, but it is so much easier to use in stores and just about everywhere!
But back to my point. BUBBLES. I push them around the neighborhood on all non-rainy days and she has a set of smaller bubble tubes that she got from her Nana. They are all different colors and she always wants to bring the orange tubes with her to blow bubbles and tells me to bring the blue ones for her brother (he never gets them, he'd break them).
She sits in the front seat of the stroller and all I see are little bubbles coming up from the front of the stroller over the little cover that gives her shade from the sun. The people on the main street must laugh at the site of me walking and bubbles shooting out from the front of the stroller. I know I would.
When we get home, she wants to blow more bubbles on the deck, which is when I get her the big container she just got from her Aunt JuneAnne and I get the smaller, empty container for The Boy. And the two of them "blow" bubbles. FOR HOURS.
And when Daddy comes home, all she wants to do is go back outside and blow more bubbles.
She's obsessed.
I did notice yesterday, normally very shy, my Little Miss actually shared her bubbles with a friend of mine who came to visit for lunch. She actually opened up and was very "friendly" and it made me very happy to see that she had fun with someone other than me and her Daddy. I believe the bubbles had a huge part in that, so thank you to the person who invented Bubbles!
Perhaps I should rename her Bubbles?

  1. So cute! One of the easiest ways to recapture our own ability to enjoy those "simple pleasures" is definitely blowing bubbles. Even our dog loves them!
