This weekend we were once again at my mom's house. The Boy loves to go swimming with his Nana, Little Miss loves to hang out with Grandpa. So it works out well. While there, my mom asks me if I had dolls or were they my sister's that she found. I told her I don't know Ma, I'd have to see them.
After swimming, she takes Little Miss downstairs and comes back with old Barbie dolls and what I think is Donny, from Donny and Marie. They have to be cleaned, smell like old basement and have dead bugs in the case with them...EWWWWW. So my daughter is not completely upset, she understand I have to clean them. But Mom isn't done! She goes back downstairs and finds an old kitchen set toy, along with a plastic house that has a whole set of stuff that goes in the house, like beds, toilets, sinks, fridge, etc. My daughter's eyes light up. Mom quickly throws everything in the sink to wash it all down, it gets dried off and Little Miss is in heaven.
In her words to my Mother "I love my new stuff." She repeated this at least a dozen times at my mom's house, then on the trip home to our house she kept telling me about her "new" stuff and how she wanted to show Daddy all of her new stuff Nana got for her! I told her that "new" stuff was once mine and her Aunt's. She got even more excited. "I get to play with your stuff from when you were little? Oh Mommy, I love my "new" stuff." No joke, this is how my child speaks. I wish I could record her sometimes, but she's so shy, she clams up in front of the camera!
So here's to old being "new" again. I guess recycling toys is good for the soul, the environment and my Little Miss!

I wondered what happened to some of that stuff...some of it belongs to the Sesame Street set I have. Those beds (with the foam) are definitely from there and I think the tables might be too.
ReplyDeleteMom's got a ton of stuff. The schoolhouse is over at her house-with the magnetic letters. The kids love it.
