April - I love you, but this year, you're a bitch!

I should be honest, the shit started in March.....but it's so close to April, when all the other crap started, I'm kind of not loving my favorite month this year. AT ALL.

First of all, we didn't get to host Easter, because our cess pool overflowed. Yeah, here on Long Island, in my town, we have big, huge containers that collect our piss, and poo. They are underground, and we're stuck with making sure they don't get too filled up, and the chemicals in there eat away everything so it doesn't overflow.

Gross. Especially when it comes up through your downstairs toilet, while your husband is taking a shower in the upstairs bathroom.......needless to say, he wasn't excited when I was slamming on the door to get him to shut the "f*cking water off, our bathroom is exploding downstairs."

Second, our roof. OUR ROOF. Our plan for this house was to build up. Add a second story. However, we were hoping the roof would hold off on "letting us down" until we were financially ready to add the second story.

Damn thing totally let us down. Super Storm Sandy had a lot to do with it.....but basically, living with so many trees on your street BLOCKING most of the sunshine, well, it causes lots of issues with your roof. DANG IT TO HELL. We had to replace it.

Finally, the minivan. The other day, the brake light popped up on the dashboard. Now, let me give a little back story here. I've always been taught to use my emergency break when I park the car. Dad's a former mechanic, he said it's good for the brake, so do it. I'm older, and I still do it.

With the minivan, the light on the dashboard lights up when you have the emergency brake on. Release it, and the light goes away. Over the weekend, it started to stay on, but then go off as I drove. I told my husband, and he thought maybe the brake wasn't fully released.

He had to get gas in it last night, and as he was driving, he noticed he had to push all the way to the floor to get the brakes to work. I've always had this problem with the minivan, so it wasn't really new to me. He put two and two together, brought it to the local shop, and left it for them to look at.

Great news!!! The brake lines in the back were rotted through, and now have to be replaced. YAY. OH wait, that's more money.......but at least I'll have brakes that work!

April has been a very cruel month this year....normally, because my birthday, my husband's birthday, and my nephew's birthday, all fall in April, along with a really great TAX REFUND each year - it's my favorite month.

Not this year. With all of this mean spirited behavior from April, I'm not loving it this year. Plus, April 8th had the never to make me one year older. Sure, it does this each year, but now.....now I'm even closer to 40, and that's just NOT COOL.

This year, April's being a bit of a bitch......

But.....at least I got some good hugs as gifts for my birthday this year. You know, BEFORE yet another cruel twist in April - hit with a stomach bug the night of my birthday.

Such a bitch you are, April......seriously. Let's do better next year, shall we? Or at least use the rest of this current month to make it up to me!
